Weight doesn’t matter.
That’s right – weight does not matter. Wanna know why? Because the number on my scale can’t even be compared with the number on your scale.
You can’t compare my weight with your weight.
We have different heights, different body types, different weight fluctuations, different goals. Everyone is DIFFERENT which is why comparing your weight to someone else’s is crazy.
I never (part from this video) weigh myself. I measure my progress in other ways. The way I look, the way I feel. I talk about this in my vision statement and pretty much every social media platform I post on. But I was a little curious so I hopped on the scale today.
I saw that I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been. 57kg to almost 62kg in 4 shorts week. And that actually made me happy!
If you’re trying to build muscle, your weight is likely to go up
Because it means all my hard work is paying off. My muscles are getting bigger.
This is another reason why how heavy you are DOESN’T matter. If you start working out and putting on muscle, your weight is going to stay the same or even increase but it’s likely to be muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat by volume.
Again, by volume. This just means that you might have lost fat and even dropped a dress size but you weigh the same.
If you’re aiming to lose body fat, you might look slimmer but still weigh around the same. That’s because you’ve lost fat and gained muscle. Or in my case, you’ll look more muscular and weigh more because again, you’ve gained muscle!
If you’re trying to lose body fat, focus on that – body fat, not weight. If you’re trying to build muscle, don’t be surprised when it goes up, it’s bound to happen!
You’re not your weight
Don’t let your self-worth come from a number. You’re not a number on a scale or a clothing label. You’re a person. Weighing yourself is just one of MANY ways to measure your progress. And in all honesty, it’s like the least effective way to measure it. So do yourself a favour. Chuck those scales out and don’t look back.
