The only fitness motivation you need: Think of fitness like a game.
Fitness is a game. I know that sounds a little strange for fitness motivation so let me explain;
Yes it’s hard to achieve your goals. Yes it takes a longggg time to see results. But that is the point. The fact that it takes so much hard work and dedication and determination is what it’s all about!
When you’re not seeing results…
How annoying is it when you try a certain way of training or a different type of eating and it doesn’t work? You feel like you’re trying really hard, and you’re putting so much into it, but you’re not getting much back.
But think about how amazing it is when it does work. When you finally crack that formula and find a style of training and a way of eating that works for you.
Fitness is about more than just breaking a sweat and counting calories.
I feel like its a mix of art and science. The art of training until you’re aching all over and the science of manipulating your food intake to obtain the results you’re after. That’s why it’s a game. You try and try, over and over, and then one day you finally crack it. You find the perfect combination of the two and you see results! Nothing feels better!
What it feels like to finally see progress
Its like my shoulder injury. I just did a whole entire shoulder workout without any pain and I am beyond stoked. I hurt my shoulder over a year ago. Damn rotator cuff.. And I was unable to do ANY upper body for a good 3 months, not to mention ZERO shoulders or chest for the entire year!! All my gains (or lack there of to be honest) gone!
I tried rehab exercise after rehab exercise. I tried physio. I tried everything! Nothing worked. A 3 month recovery turned into a 6 month recovery and then into a 12 month recovery.
But I kept pushing. I kept trying things, knowing that something had to give. Knowing that I was missing something. And when I finally started to see improvements, and could finally train shoulders, I was over the moon. I cracked the formula. I won the game.
You have to keep going!
So when it gets tough. When you see no results and you feel like every bit of hard work is all for nothing, change your mindset. Think of it as a game and keep pushing until you win that game. And that’ll be the only fitness motivation you ever need.
You will get there. And once you do, you’ll find the next milestone even harder to reach. But thats what makes it worth it. It’s what makes the journey so great as well.
Keep experimenting. Keep pushing yourself. Keep going. You’ll never win if you stop.
Ps; I’ve found that constantly changing up my workouts always gets the best results! I wanted to make it easier for you to change up your workouts, so I post brand new gym-based workouts every single week and you can find them right here!
